2019 Goals - Week 7 of 52

I took Monday off so we could get some painting done. We still haven't finished but hopefully one more day of painting this coming Saturday will finish her up.

Financial Goals

1. Make a monthly budget and check in regularly.
I set up my January and February budgets using Every Dollar and have been keeping track of my expenses. So far things are running smoothly. I check in 1-2 times per week or when I spend money.

2. Save $1500 for car fund. $450/$1500
I have an automated transfer set up to save $50 every 4 weeks. No extra saving last week.

3. Save $2000 for house updates. $450/$2000
No extra saving this week.

4. Limit personal spending to $500 for the year. $20/$500
My personal items will include clothes, shoes, cosmetics, haircuts and personal gadgets.
No spending last week. It's about time for a haircut though.
Skinny Jeans $20

Home and Garden Goals

5. Build a new chicken coop.
I think we will work on the coop in the spring or on a warm weekend.

6. Redesign front yard garden.
This will be something G and I do in the spring.

7. Paint trim, ceiling, walls and built-ins in living room.
We began prepping and painting Saturday. We finished the ceiling, 3 coats on the crown molding, 1 coat on all other trim and door, and rolled two coats on the wall. I need to finish painting the moldings and edge the walls and it will be finished. I am hoping that I can finish this coming weekend. We are still undecided on what to do with the fireplace brick and mantel. It's been painted an off white that matched the old trim color. It either needs to be painted extra white to match or stripped.

8. Complete one large project.
We bought our home in 2015, had a new roof put on in 2016, painted our house in 2017 and did nothing in 2018 besides small projects so we are ready to do something big this year. We have many things we want to do to our home. Attic and crawlspace insulation, windows, driveway, or regrade backyard are some that come to mind.

The perk of living in the city limits is they repair sidewalks. The workers were super nice and even poured a new "ramp" to our driveway. The old one was completely crumbled. We had plans to replace it but when the city workers said they'd do it we said have at it! We are now thinking that replacing the entire driveway will be what we do this year.

Lifestyle Goals

9. Read/listen to 24 books. 5/24
I keep track of my progress on Good Reads.
1. Crazy Rich Asians - Kevin Kwan
2. China Rich Girlfriend - Kevin Kwan
3. The Stranger in the Woods - Michael Finkel
4. Rich People Problems - Kevin Kwan
5. The Safest Lies - Megan Miranda

Currently listening to The Dark Horse - Craig Johnson
Currently listening to Nine Perfect Strangers - Liane Moriarty (loan ended)
Currently reading Firefly Lane - Kristin Hannah

10. Try weekly meal prepping for four weeks. 4/4 Complete!
I really liked meal prepping. This week was a little different since I was busy painting all weekend. I did make lazy lasagna on Monday (with 4 meals leftover) and on Tuesday night I made a quiche for my lunch and chicken fajitas for dinner (leftovers will be Gavin's lunch).

11. 30 Days of Yoga. 30/30 Complete!
I followed along the YouTube channel Yoga with Adriene. I think I practiced once last week. I haven't practiced this week but I really need to!

12. Travel to a new place.
G and I usually have our annual vacation in late summer or fall. We had a couples trip in early January.

1. The Homestead in Hotsprings, Virginia
